UVMLS Holiday Edition! Next Book and Meeting Date

We had a great discussion of "Annapurna" at the last meeting. Some members couldn't make it, but it was a lot of fun nonetheless. The library actually owns a copy of "Annapurna" now, for those of you who didn't get a chance to read it last time. For our next meeting, we will be discussing "The Ascent of Rum Doodle," by W.E. Bowman. This is a work of fiction, and was written as a parody of classic expeditionary accounts, including "Annapurna." I thought that, having just read several mountaineering heavy books, it might be nice to read something that pokes fun at the genre. This book is hysterically funny and fairly easy, but also a true classic. For those of you who enjoyed "A Walk in the Woods," the introduction to the latest edition of "Rum Doodle" was written by Bill Bryson (so there's really no excuse to not check it out!). We'll meet on December 13, from 6:30 to about 8 and have a UVMLS holiday cele
