Next Book and Future Meetings

The second meeting of the UVMLS this past Thursday was quite successful. We completed our discussion of"Touching the Void", and the members in attendance agreed on our next book: "Into Thin Air," by Jon Krakauer. This is perhaps the definitive piece of mountain reporting of the past thirty years, and is one of only several items of mountain literature to break into the mainstream in a significant way. Copies are available at the Tunbridge Library for those who don't want to buy the book outright. We will discuss the book at our next meeting, held on Thursday, March 22 from 6:30 - 7:30 at the Tunbridge Public Library . Presenting the unique opportunity to dissect a true modern classic, the UVMLS's discussion of "Into Thin Air" is not to be missed!

First meeting success, second meeting in two weeks

The first meeting of the UVMLS was a resounding success, and bodes well for the future of the group. The next meeting will be in two weeks on Thursday, February 22, from 6:30 to 7:30. To prepare, finish "Touching the Void," and come ready to discuss. If you didn't come to the first meeting, you can still come to this one - this book is easy to talk about, and not to be missed.

Meeting Tonight

This post is just a quick reminder that the first meeting of the UVMLS is tonight at 6:30. If you have any interesting excerpts, quotes, etc. from the reading, make a note of them and we'll discuss those particular bits in detail. I hope to see you all tonight!
